Service upgrade
A new meter base, mast and panel
For a house whose service, not just its panel, is the limit.
The service is what connects your house to the utility. When the meter base, mast or service wire can't carry what you are adding, a bigger panel alone doesn't help. We replace what has to be replaced and coordinate with the utility.

When you need it
When the service is the limit
A 100 amp service and big new loads
A heat pump, a charger and an induction range together can ask for more than 100 amps.
A meter base that is cracked or rusted
A damaged base has to be replaced before it can be reconnected.
A mast or service wire that has pulled away
Damage at the weatherhead needs the utility and an electrician.
A second panel, an ADU or a garage workshop
More buildings and more panels mean a bigger feed.
How a service upgrade runs with the utility
- 01
Step 1: Load check
We calculate what the new service has to carry.
- 02
Step 2: Quote and permit
Equipment, labor and the permit fee, itemized, then the permit application.
- 03
Step 3: Utility request
We ask the utility for its disconnect and reconnect. It sets its own schedule, and we tell you the window when we have it.
- 04
Step 4: Work
New meter base, mast and panel, circuit by circuit.
- 05
Step 5: Inspection and reconnect
The inspector approves the work, then the utility restores power.

Service upgrades, answered
Do I need a permit, and who pulls it?
Panel and service work needs a permit from your city or town and an inspection before the power goes back on. We apply for it, and its fee is a separate line on your quote. Rules differ from one city to the next, so we tell you what yours asks for.
How long does a panel replacement take, and will the power be off?
Plan for the power to be off for part of one working day on a standard swap. Your quote gives the window. A new meter base or service upgrade involves the utility, which sets its own schedule for the disconnect and reconnect.
What isn't in the price?
Drywall repair and paint, trenching, equipment you supply, and sales tax where it applies. If we find a wiring problem behind the cover, we stop, show you and quote it before we go on.
Does your house need a bigger service?
Text a photo of the meter and the panel door, and tell us what you are adding.
