From your first call to the reconnect

Nobody shows the middle of a panel job. Here it is, in order.

  • You text a photo or fill in the form

Send a picture of the meter and the panel door, or tell us what you're adding. We call back in office hours to book the visit.

  • The load check

We measure what the house draws, look inside the panel and check the meter base and grounding.

  • A written quote

Every line itemized, with the permit fee and the utility steps on their own lines.

  • The permit

We apply with your city or town before any work starts.

  • Disconnect, swap, inspection

The utility cuts power at the meter, we replace the panel, and the inspector looks at the work.

  • Reconnect and clean-up

Once it passes, the utility restores power. We label every circuit and take the old panel with us.

What moves a quote

Four things change the price of a panel

Most quotes differ by what is around the panel, not by the panel.

What raises it

  • A panel that has to move to a new wall

  • A meter base or mast that has to be replaced

  • Old wiring that has to be corrected before it is connected

  • A finished wall that has to open, against a bare basement

Questions we get before the visit

Does my panel need replacing?

Not always. A panel that is full, shows scorch marks, carries a brand with a history of breakers that fail to trip, such as Federal Pacific or Zinsco, or can't take a new heat pump or EV charger is a candidate. The load check settles it: we measure what the house draws, open the cover and photograph what is inside before we recommend anything.

Do I need a permit, and who pulls it?

Panel and service work needs a permit from your city or town and an inspection before the power goes back on. We apply for it, and its fee is a separate line on your quote. Rules differ from one city to the next, so we tell you what yours asks for.

How long does a panel replacement take, and will the power be off?

Plan for the power to be off for part of one working day on a standard swap. Your quote gives the window. A new meter base or service upgrade involves the utility, which sets its own schedule for the disconnect and reconnect.

Do I need a bigger panel for an EV charger or heat pump?

It depends on the load check. Many houses can take one new 240-volt circuit. Two or three big loads together, such as a heat pump, a charger and an induction range, often need a larger service. We run the numbers before we quote and put the result in writing.

What does the visit cost, and is it credited?

The load check and quote visit has a set fee, quoted when you book. Book the work within 30 days and the fee comes off the job. If you don't, it covers the time we spent measuring your house and writing the quote.

Do you do emergency work?

No. Panel and service jobs are scheduled Monday to Friday, so there is no after-hours line and no night rate. If you smell burning or see sparks, scorching or water near wiring, turn off the breaker if it is safe and call 911 for fire. Then call us the next working morning.

Text it to us or request a quote. We write back in office hours with a time for the load check.
